Better Than Expected

June 16th, 2008

I kind of hate Scarlett Johansson. That’s pretty harsh, but something about her just bugs me. And I don’t think she’s a good actress. Let’s just say I think she’s totally overrated in every capacity. But The Other Boleyn Girl was actually pretty good. I was surprised. She and Natalie Portman were better than expected. The film actually made me want to read the book to find out more about that whole part of history. It’s all pretty fascinating.

“Momma Sick?”

June 16th, 2008

Little Squid is so polite. He’s always so concerned when he hears me sneeze. He runs up to me and with big eyes, asks, “Momma sick?”

I’ve actually had horrible allergies this weekend, so spent a large part of it on the couch. We did have a very successful garage sale on Saturday, however.

And a fun play date with my friend, Steph, and her two kids, Aidan and Jillian.

But Sunday - Father’s Day - was all about laying around and sleeping. I took Chlor-Trimeton and it knocked me out. I almost missed my hair appointment at 6. Luckily, I woke up a half hour before I had to be there and jumped in my car. Now I am loving my new summer cut. It’s so easy and super cute. It kind of looks like a 20’s flapper do. I’ll try to post some pics of it later on.

Anyway, hope you all had a great weekend. And Happy belated Father’s Day to the dads.

Don’t Know Why

June 10th, 2008

I seem to have all these ideas of things to write during the day, but when I sit down to type them out, I’m blank. I think I’m just in a rut. I’m not really sure why. It’s that whole Love My Blog/Hate My Blog thing. It’s a tough relationship sometimes. ;)

I’m Famous!

June 4th, 2008

Yeah, right. But, hey, I’ll take faux fame over no fame.

One of my Flickr photos was selected to be part of their annual “Schmap California Guide.”

It’s here and it’s this one under “Berkeley Kite Festival.” I personally thought this one I took was way better, but whatever.

So, there you go. I’m a celebrity now.

Yay, Help!

May 29th, 2008

My stepson is out of school…yay! Now he’ll be spending Fridays here with me and the baby. It’s so nice because then Squid has someone to play with all day. And it makes it easier for me to catch up on the week’s laundry and everything else. Oh, yeah, and it’s nice to be able to spend time with my stepson. Did I forget that part? Oops!

Bubble Boy

May 28th, 2008

So last night, Squid got a bubble in his eye at Gymboree. It got all red and he was scratching it a bit. In a few minutes, though, it was just fine. Anyway, what was so sweet was that Squid’s teacher called us later that night to see if he was okay! Isn’t that nice? I was really surprised, and now I’m an even bigger advocate of Gymboree. They rule.

Dust And Fuzz

May 27th, 2008

Our neighbor is having her kitchen and a couple bedrooms remodeled and there seems to be this extra layer of dust all over everything. Tiniest Squid has been sneezing a lot. And me, too. And our other neighbor got arrested last night. Six cop cars up and down our street. So, that’s something. I’m thinking right about now that I’m not so much gonna miss getting the f#%! outta here. Happy Tuesday, y’all.

Back To Reality

May 27th, 2008

Jason is back to work today, after almost two weeks off. His nose is healing well and it’s time to get back into our normal routine. This weekend we were able to do a lot of cleaning and I even started packing! I know I’m jumping the gun a bit, but I like doing it. It gives me a chance to really go through things and organize everything. I got rid of a bunch of stuff, too, which always feels good. The only thing I hate about 3 day weekends…you feel like you’re always struggling to catch up that week. Like, I already feel today that I’m behind for some reason. Sigh.
