Fucking Roofers!

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

I’m so pissed right now. Blog it out, honey, blog it out.

(Deep breath)

So, I just put Squid down for a nap (finally!) and who shows up? Roofers! Loud roofers fixing some bullshit hole in our…you guessed it, ROOF!

Oh. My. God. They are so loud!

I just hope Squid doesn’t wake up. It’s been so difficult lately to get him down in the afternoon.

(Sigh)

Whatever. I’ll deal with it if he does wake up. It’s just a pain in the ass, ‘cuz if he doesn’t have his nap, he’s a total nightmare come bedtime.

Please, please, please don’t wake up!

So Bad

Friday, April 4th, 2008

I’ve been so busy this week. I don’t think I’ve ever really gone this many days without blogging. So, yeah. Squid’s birthday party is tomorrow and this week has been all about preparing for that. Last weekend’s party was awesome. You know, the 80’s bash we had last Saturday. Just one thing, a little note to self, if you will: never schedule two parties in two consecutive weekends. I’m just barely cleaning up from last week and now, tomorrow, we’ve got the HUGE 0-2 celebration! It’s fun, but it’s a little too much work to have 2 parties so close together.

So, the theme tomorrow is Elmo (of course). I can’t wait to see Squid’s face. We got him Elmo EVERYTHING! Elmo banners, Elmo balloons, Elmo plates, Elmo cake…

Everything except…well, Elmo. Shit, I knew I forgot something! I was going to buy him Tickle Me Elmo, if they even still sell those. Do they?

Stormy

Saturday, January 5th, 2008

It’s been so scary stormy lately. No, really. Scary.

The house has been shaking from the wind and every now and then there will be a big thud accompanied by a huge downpour of rain. I feel like every time it happens, the whole roof is gonna come flying off!

I wanted rain and I got it. Be careful what you wish for.

Rapping At My Window

Tuesday, December 11th, 2007

Last night I was awakened by a really scary sound. Like a mouse.

At first I thought they were inside my television cabinet, scratching at the back of the T.V. It sounded like sharp nails attempting to climb something slick. Maybe a few mice. Or one big shiny rat!

I just stayed in bed for a minute and considered ignoring it. I was THAT tired. Jason was in the living room working on the computer, so when the sound didn’t go away, I pulled myself out of bed to go get help. From what, I still didn’t know. I was halfway down the hall when it hit me. It was the stupid tree outside. It was particularly windy last evening and one of the branches was scraping across the window.

I’m not sure, maybe mice would have been better. At least we could have scared them away and I’m positive my one of my four cats would have killed them overnight. As it was, it was way too dark to go outside and trim the branch, so for the rest of the night….SKKKKKRRRAAAAEEEEAAAAA! every freaking two minutes!

I ended up sleeping on the couch and now my neck hurts.

Loud And Smelly

Monday, November 12th, 2007

So, the Dirtbag Challenge was fun. A little more smelly (burning tires) than I had expected, but well worth it. And the best thing? My friend won!

The rules said you couldn’t use more than $1,000 and you had a one-month build time. I think he built his bike in two weeks and spent $600.

I’ll get the pictures up later today…

Spooky

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

Just a few days ago, Jason and I were talking about how the recent change in temperature is reminiscent of “earthquake weather.”

Then weird stuff starting happening.

My computer turned itself on from across the room.

Jason’s car alarm started going off for no reason.

The lights flashed.

And then, last night, sitting on the couch watching “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” with Squid, it happened.

The house started to shake. The lights twittered. The floor rolled. I jumped off the couch with Squid in my arms and ran to the entrance of the kitchen, bracing the two of us in the doorway. About 6 seconds later, it stopped.

“There’s no such thing as earthquake weather?” Yeah, right.
