I Actually Do Have Limits…I Think

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

So, maybe nothing is sacred with me. But at least I don’t talk about vaginal relaxation in public. No, seriously, I was with a…let’s just say…random group of people this weekend and one particular lady (no way I’m naming names! There actually are some sacred things in this life!) started going in to how she had surgery to correct her rather lazy vagina. I’ve talked about this procedure on my blog before, mainly because it’s a mom and baby-oriented blog and it’s a fact that giving birth stretches your junk. So what? I’m not scared of it. I mean, I wouldn’t announce it in public, but I’m not afraid to address the subject. It’s part of human nature. And, inevitable, as you get older, your body changes. You think your face is the only thing to be affected by gravity? ;)

Arrrrr…Testosterone!

Because summer is almost here and everyone starts getting geared up for camping trips and water activities, take a look at this site which has all kinds of great Magnalight products such as work lights, boat lights and more. My dad is the king of having way too many flashlights. One year, for Christmas, he gave Jason three different types of lights! It was insane, but it turned out we totally needed them. We got the one that you wind up and it recharges itself (awesome for when you don’t have batteries handy) the work light that stands up and rotates, and the heavy duty spotlight-type that has it’s own plastic briefcase handle! It’s funny…guys and flashlights. What’s up with that?

Anyway, last summer we went camping with some friends and their kids…and one of their little boys very nonchalantly threw one of Jason’s flashlights in the campfire. Jason flew out of his chair and put his hand (yes, his HAND) in the fire and grabbed the flashlight. Now if that’s not crazy I don’t know what is. There are worse things than losing a flashlight, but to guys, it’s like losing a best bud! It was hilarious. He was all rubbing it in the dirt and smothering it in a wet towel. Then he said, “See, it’s fine!” and dusted it off. It still worked. He held it up, all proud.

Wow.

So, if you are really stuck as far as Father’s Day presents go (it’s next month), just get your dad (or your man) a flashlight. It will probably make his year.

Trippin’

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

I was going through my closet the other day and found about 15,000 purses, wallets, backpacks and overnight bags. Why do I accumulate so many? I don’t go to nearly enough places in nearly enough outfits to accommodate my bag collection. I’m getting really anxious, though, about our trip next month. I started sorting through all my stuff, trying to figure out what I’m going to bring. We’re going to be doing lots of different things: a ferry ride, the Space Needle, Pike Place (of course), and I want to try and get one of my family members to babysit the kids so Jason and I can go out to a nice dinner. It’s so beautiful up there, too, and I’m definitely an ‘outdoorsy’ type, so maybe we’ll end up going hiking or biking or something like that. We’re there for a week…it’s possible.

Anyway, my brother is a sports/outdoors columnist, so I know he’ll be able to point us in the right direction. He’s always going on some excursion or another up in the Pacific Northwest. The last time I was in the area was five years ago. I remember it being windy, but sunny. Hopefully it won’t rain. This is going to be our only summer vacation (besides the occasional camping trip), so I want it to be perfect. And Squid has never really been on a vacation at all. He’s only gone away with us for the weekend in the past. Oh, I can’t wait!

Spring Clean

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

Waiting sucks. And waiting to hear back from your Mortgage Lender sucks even worse. That’s where we are right now. I get so antsy, especially when looking at awesome homes that I want! I don’t want to let another house get taken away from us! Not that we ever had the house that we lost. I still kind of wish our offer had been accepted, but honestly, I’m glad we moved on from it. It was too small, anyway. And since then the market has fallen even more. Sigh. I just can’t wait to be in a house of our own. I feel like nesting. I feel like I want to move, also, just to be able to go through all my crap and start fresh. I suppose that should be done beforehand, though, so as to make the moving process easier. It’s about time I did some Spring cleaning.

Total Body Health

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

I have become obsessed with taking vitamins. It’s like flossing. I feel like I have to do it after each meal. I can’t go bed knowing I haven’t done it for the day! I’m getting so old! Right now I’m taking Vitamin B because my nails are so frail and I take a multivitamin, as well. I also started taking fish oil but only because Jason takes it. His doctor said it was good for lowering cholesterol. I don’t even know if I have high cholesterol but it can’t hurt, right? ChoiceNutritionals.com has a good selection of all kinds of vitamins. They even have New Wave Enviro products that clean and purify your water at home. Seriously, you (and by you, I mean I) can get so carried away with this stuff. I won’t even talk about the skincare. If I start, I’ll probably go over there right now and spend money I don’t have. And that’s not good. But, check it out -for the really great selection of vitamins, if for nothing else.

What Movies Really Look Like

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

I’m sick this morning. It sucks. I think the drastic change in the weather from Sunday to Monday did it. It was like 75 degrees here on Sunday. Just ridiculously hot (for this area, that is like 100 degrees anywhere else). And then, yesterday morning, it was about 58. I always seem to get sick when that happens.

Anyway, I’m bummed out, drinking coffee and looking at videos online. Look at this.

I find it hilarious that this is what movies really look like. With all these people standing around watching the scenes being filmed. It’s so weird! Kind of ruins the whole experience. I just feel like a punk when I get all “into” movies, knowing that this is all it is.

Merci

thankyou

So, I’m about a week behind in sending out my Thank You cards for Squid’s birthday. It’s not like I haven’t had time. It’s just that every time I think about sitting down to do it, I get this overwhelming feeling that I need a nap. I should just get it over with. I’m the first one to ask, “Where’s my thank you note?!” when I give someone a gift and don’t receive a Thank You.

And then when you finally do get it, all is good with the world again. It’s just the pettiness in me, I guess. But isn’t it nice to receive a Thank You, especially when you really go out of your way to get something really nice or make someone a special present? It just makes you want to do more. But when that little card doesn’t come in the mail, you just think, “Fine, then. That’s it for you.” Am I just an incredible brat or do most of you feel that way?

Mags And Rags

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

I’m kind of beyond irritated that I paid something like $60 for my Us Weekly magazine subscription, and then just found it on MagsForLess for $37.49. Doesn’t that suck? I don’t know how they can even offer that price. Now I’m thinking I might have to sign up to receive some more magazines that I’ve been holding off on. They have all kinds of Cheap Magazines on this site. My newest obsession is Martha Stewart’s Living Magazine. I was in a waiting room a few weeks back and picked one up. I thought it was going to be really dumb and cheesy, but it was actually very beautiful and inspiring. All these cute little projects and really gorgeous pictures of homes and gardens and crafts. So, yes, Living is definitely going on my list.
