5 Weeks ‘Til Vacay!

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

I’m so excited about getting away this summer. I really can’t believe it is almost June, either. That’s crazy. Anyway, Seattle is going to be so fun. I love, love, love road trips! The best part is stopping at gas stations and raiding their little shopping marts, buying all sorts of crap for 99 cents, like trucker bandannas and keychains that say “I Love Jesus.”

Ah…vacation!

MIA

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

I’ve been kind of lost lately. At least from the blogging world. With Jason recovering from surgery (everything went fine, by the way), I’ve been extra busy with the kids, the house, the dogs…and me (sort of). There actually hasn’t been a whole lot of ME time. That’s why I’ve been MIA.

Finally Jason is feeling a bit better. I liked taking care of him for the first…oh, 2 days. Then it got tiring. I just feel so bad for him, too, because while I’m sure he loves being served and treated like a King, he really is miserable.

I’m really looking forward to this weekend. He gets the final two splints out of his nose (did I mention he had septoplasty?) and I think he’ll be lots more comfortable. It is nice having him home, however. Even though he can’t do much, having him here means I can run to the store or to the gym for an hour and leave the baby! Even those tiny breaks make all the difference.

My Sweet Mom’s Day

Monday, May 12th, 2008

The boys got me this insane balloon that sings. That was the best. It’s a gift that just keeps on giving…like this morning at around 6 am.

Jason bought me roses and took me out to a surprise brunch. He also let me go wild in Williams-Sonoma. I love those days! He holds the baby on his shoulders and stands out of the way, and just watches me shop. Then he steps up to the counter and pays for it all. Could there be anything better in the whole world?

It was a great weekend, to say the least. We had a lot of fun, mostly dancing around to my ginormous singing balloon. Hope you all had a great Mom’s Day…now, it’s Monday…and back to Kid’s Day. Isn’t it always? :)

The Bestest

This is my favorite new picture of Squid. His eyes look so expressive, which they always are. I just love the way this photo turned out. It’s perfect. It’s so my boy!

Put ‘Em To Work!

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

This is good for your kids. It’s called ChoreCharts.com and what they do is offer these free printable chore charts. I’m totally into organization, even though I’m not that good at it, and this is a really smart way for families to assign and organize chores around the house. Teaching your kids to be responsible by helping out around the house is really important. You can give them monetary encouragement, a.k.a. allowance, or just a pat on the back. :) I’m all for the pat on the back. At least until they get old enough to understand the importance of earning and saving money. Until then, having your kids do chores should be a non-negotiable. That’s just the way I see it: everyone helps out and everyone benefits from a clean and healthy home.

Fucking Roofers!

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

I’m so pissed right now. Blog it out, honey, blog it out.

(Deep breath)

So, I just put Squid down for a nap (finally!) and who shows up? Roofers! Loud roofers fixing some bullshit hole in our…you guessed it, ROOF!

Oh. My. God. They are so loud!

I just hope Squid doesn’t wake up. It’s been so difficult lately to get him down in the afternoon.

(Sigh)

Whatever. I’ll deal with it if he does wake up. It’s just a pain in the ass, ‘cuz if he doesn’t have his nap, he’s a total nightmare come bedtime.

Please, please, please don’t wake up!

Newest Words

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

So, my big 2 year-old is super talkative lately, and here’s what he has to say when he’s not screaming, “NO!”

Coffee
Peeza (Pizza)
Odnin (”Odin”…our friends’ dog)
Money
Work
Seepin’ (Sleeping)
West (Rest)
Bankey (Blanket)
Shou-shou (Shower)
Ka-Ka (You know…)
Tank-u (Thank you)
Yo Welgum (You’re welcome)

I love the Thank you’s and You’re welcome’s. Hey, at least he’s polite about having tantrums every 15 minutes.

Birthday Boy

Monday, April 7th, 2008

The birthday party went so well! We all had so much fun, and of course I have a ton of pictures that I’ve got to get uploaded this week.

It was at about Elmo and Squid totally loved it. He got so many cool new toys and clothes…just unpacking all his presents took a full afternoon. He’s already ripped through them all and they are scattered all around the living room as I type.

We had crazy fun at the park. There was a juggler who made all the kids balloon animals. It was pretty cute. And the weather was awesome. So much better than last year, where we all froze our asses off in Golden Gate Park (this year we celebrated in Sunnyvale).

But, wow, Jason and I were so out of control tired after it all. We got home from the South Bay Saturday night but I don’t think it hit us until Sunday afternoon. We took Squid out for a birthday breakfast (his actual birthday was yesterday), and when we got home the three of us crashed for - no kidding - 4 hours!

And, honestly, I think I could go for another 4 hour nap right about now.

Pictures to come…

:)
