Play Time

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

Last night was our first “free play” class at Gymboree. But tonight is our first official organized class with the teacher and all. I’m really curious to see how it’s going to go. Squid loved playing around last night and after an hour, he was yawning. He also slept in, so I think I’m on to something here…

Gymboree Finally Got Me

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

For the longest time I was getting Gymboree flyers in the mail. Not from the store Gymboree, but from their partner play centers. So I finally went down there today and signed Squid up. I think it will be good for him. They have all these different classes that he can participate in where he can run around and play with other 2 year olds. And it will be his first experience with having an actual teacher. I’m still not quite sure what the teacher is going to do with a bunch of hyper toddlers, but it will be interesting to find out. Our first class is next Monday. I think it will be fun, too, to just sit back with the other moms and take a break while the kids do what they may.

I really only have one other friend with kids, and luckily her son is around Squid’s age. But other than the play dates we schedule with each other, Squid’s sort of left out when it comes to socializing with other toddlers. Which also means I’m left out when it comes to socializing with other moms. When your friends don’t have kids, it’s kind of like talking to an alien. They don’t really understand what you’re talking about and don’t appreciate the poop stories. They just think they’re gross and look at you kind of funny when you start talking about it. Yeah. Anyway, it will be good for both of us. I’m excited!

Man Comin’!

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

Squid makes me laugh so hard. Today is garbage day.

“Man comin’!” he screams.

He used to just say, “Man!” but lately he’s added the “comin’!” and when the garbageman leaves, he waves from the window and says softly, “Bye, bye, man.”

I just want to bite his cheeks off!

What Is It With Crayons And Poop?

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

A few days ago I wrote about my pug eating crayons and them showing up in his poop.

Yesterday Squid stuffed a bunch of crayons down his diaper and took a massive turd. Then he stuck his hand in there to try and fish the crayons out. I found all this out after he started screaming, “Cowo suck! Cowo suck!” Translation: “Colors stuck! Colors stuck!”

What is going on with all the poop and crayons?

Procrastinating No More

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

I’m so lazy. It’s so lame that it’s taken me this long to get these pictures up. I still don’t have the ones from my MOTHER WHO WAS SUPPOSED TO EMAIL ME THE BIRTHDAY PICS LIKE TEN YEARS AGO but I have these few from our party on the 5th.

Here’s the birthday boy looking mighty sour:

even scowling he looks cute

And here’s our hired help (Silly Ricky) entertaining the young ‘uns:

with silly ricky

observing

parachute games

in line for balloons

I know these are kind of lame and you can’t even see them very well. Okay, seriously, Mom, if you’re reading this…our pictures, por favor. The cake, the presents, the playing…I need to get them up. I feel like a real loser, here.

Bedmate

Monday, April 14th, 2008

Squid is now officially my bedmate. He doesn’t ever want to sleep in his crib anymore! It’s okay. I like to have him next to me, but I find it really hard to get a good night’s rest. I’m not afraid of him falling off anymore. He seems to be a bit more coordinated and aware of the edge. It’s just that he moves around constantly and he snores! I can’t blame him. He’s a mouth-breather, like me. It’s my fault! Arg, but it drives me crazy. Anyway, I’ll have to get used to it because I really do like him to sleep next to me. I don’t care if he gets used to it and never wants his crib. He’s been faithful to his crib for 2 years. I think it’s time for a change. Eventually, we’ll get bunk beds and the boys can share that.

Drawr-rings!

Friday, April 11th, 2008

Squido is obsessed with coloring now. He loves making Mommy and Daddy pretty pictures (drawr-rings!) with his many random, broken crayons. It’s so cute. I honestly want to put every single paper up on the wall, but I would really look like a total nut if I did that. But I have a few by my bedside and they make me happy when I wake up. The others…I’ll file away under “stuff that absolutely has to be saved.”

Newest Words

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

So, my big 2 year-old is super talkative lately, and here’s what he has to say when he’s not screaming, “NO!”

Coffee
Peeza (Pizza)
Odnin (”Odin”…our friends’ dog)
Money
Work
Seepin’ (Sleeping)
West (Rest)
Bankey (Blanket)
Shou-shou (Shower)
Ka-Ka (You know…)
Tank-u (Thank you)
Yo Welgum (You’re welcome)

I love the Thank you’s and You’re welcome’s. Hey, at least he’s polite about having tantrums every 15 minutes.
