Arrrrr…Testosterone!

Friday, May 9th, 2008

Because summer is almost here and everyone starts getting geared up for camping trips and water activities, take a look at this site which has all kinds of great Magnalight products such as work lights, boat lights and more. My dad is the king of having way too many flashlights. One year, for Christmas, he gave Jason three different types of lights! It was insane, but it turned out we totally needed them. We got the one that you wind up and it recharges itself (awesome for when you don’t have batteries handy) the work light that stands up and rotates, and the heavy duty spotlight-type that has it’s own plastic briefcase handle! It’s funny…guys and flashlights. What’s up with that?

Anyway, last summer we went camping with some friends and their kids…and one of their little boys very nonchalantly threw one of Jason’s flashlights in the campfire. Jason flew out of his chair and put his hand (yes, his HAND) in the fire and grabbed the flashlight. Now if that’s not crazy I don’t know what is. There are worse things than losing a flashlight, but to guys, it’s like losing a best bud! It was hilarious. He was all rubbing it in the dirt and smothering it in a wet towel. Then he said, “See, it’s fine!” and dusted it off. It still worked. He held it up, all proud.

Wow.

So, if you are really stuck as far as Father’s Day presents go (it’s next month), just get your dad (or your man) a flashlight. It will probably make his year.

In Need Of Inspiration

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

Both Jason and I have been feeling a little beaten down lately. Between trying to save money and looking for a house, raising our kids and pursuing our own personal goals (the usual stuff), it sometimes gets to be a little bit frightening. I feel like the days just go by so fast. I think I try to tackle too much all at once and as a result, don’t truly finish anything. I need to just take a deep breath and do one thing at a time. This morning I read an inspiring article about some of history’s great figures and how they succeeded. When it comes down to it, it’s not that hard, really. I think the most important thing is to keep hope alive and to work hard. I can always tell that I have really worked hard and accomplished things I feel good about if at the end of the day I don’t feel guilty. I just feel content and happy. If I’ve been lazy and made excuses then I feel like crap and I start to tell myself I need to do better. As long as before I go to bed I can look back and honestly say I did all I could, I know that some good will come out of it.

The Search Continues

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

Jason and I are looking at houses again. I know, exciting, right? We have our eye on one in particular. It’s so, so, so cool. I think I’m actually ready to dive back into househunting now. Yes, it’s exhausting and emotionally draining, but having a house of our own will be totally worth it. Paying a mortgage and putting our money into something we can say we earned and that is ours…I just can’t wait. I already know what blinds I want to put up in the kitchen! Ha, I know I’m jumping the gun a bit, but whatever. They’re shutters actually. Look! Aren’t they cute?

The Fight! The Fight!

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

Jason and I always make fun of all the guys standing outside crowded bars, eagerly looking in their windows toward one of several flat panels.

We drive by and yell, “Oh, no! I’m missing the game! The fight. I’m missing the big fight!”

‘Cuz, really. Those people are nuts.

So why did a huge poster on a bar door with information on how to obtain De La Hoya vs Mayweather tickets suddenly catch Jason’s eye the other day?

And why did I suddenly become interested in watching Giants baseball on T.V.? I was at the gym this weekend and I could not take my eyes away from the screen! I was totally mesmorized. And honestly interested. When I stepped away for a minute and the game ended, I got all frantic because I didn’t know the final score. What is that?! Are all the subliminal and not-so-subliminal messages finally getting to us? Are we becoming just like every other American we swore we despised?

Who are we going to make fun of now?

Happy, Happy Birthday!

Yes, another birthday..this time my wonderful and aging husband’s!

I gave him some crap today about getting older, but honestly, he almost looks my age (I said almost)!

Happy Birthday, Babe!

Man Bling

Monday, April 14th, 2008

Jason’s birthday is this week and I don’t know what to get him! I have one idea. He really needs new Reefs. But it’s just such a boring gift. Maybe I’ll save the bling for Christmas. Or our anniversary. I saw these amazing Silver Cufflinks at Tateossian.com. I’ve browsed this site before. They have all these awesome designer men’s accessories. Jason isn’t big on jewelry, but he would totally dig the jewelry on this site. It’s all super classy and, as Jason would describe it, “cool-looking.”

Plus, you can choose how you want to browse the site, like by type of metal, gem-stone, color or theme. That way, you’re not digging through all the stuff you don’t like to find that stuff you do. It’s laid out in a manner that makes it easy to shop for men. ‘Cuz, c’mon, it’s already hard enough!

My Beautiful Baby(ies)

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

Oh, God. Is it possible to be this much in love and still be living?

sweetness

Please, someone tell me it’s normal for your heart to actually want to break?

Anniversary #5

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

Today marks the five-year anniversary of the day Jason and I met. We won’t celebrate today; we usually just clump our anniversary and V-Day all into one love fest that extends through the weekend. TMI, right? Yeah.

I’m so excited, actually, because we are having a real date ON VALENTINE’S DAY! Not the day after or the day after that (as we usually do, due to scheduling), but ON VALENTINE’S DAY! Our friends are sitting for us. YES! I’m so excited. I already said that. Oh, well. I am!
