Rodents! Yuck!

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

Ever since we put our indoor cat outside with the rest of the outdoor kitties, we’ve been visited by a small critter known as Mouse. I heard it one night when I was lying with Squid in his room…a little scratching coming from the back of my stepson’s bed. Creepy. Then, the other day, Jason was down in the garage changing the dogs’ food bowl, and he picked one up in his hand! It was in the bowl, chomping on the little pellets. He dropped it right away and it scurried off. It’s a good thing it wasn’t me. I would have fainted, I think.

Damn rodents. First it was the gophers ruining our lawn and now mice? Seriously? That’s what I get for throwing my cat outside. She was really starting to get on our nerves, scratching up the carpet and meowing in the middle of the night. But now that she’s out, she won’t come back in! She really likes living out with the other cats, hunting and lying in the sun.

Got a problem with critters? We bought some traps, but I’m looking into a better solution. There’s a website that offers advice on how to get rid of unwanted animals and offers solutions such as squirrel repellent, rabbit fences and more. If your garden or house is being invaded, check it out.

Back To The Grind. And Sick, Too.

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

We’re back from a short vacay at our friends’ ranch this weekend. It was relaxing, but it’s also nice to be home. Perfect timing, too, ‘cuz Squid came down with a cold. Poor little guy has been all runny and coughy. He’s actually much better today than he was yesterday. My mom mentioned it was the first day of Fall yesterday, also, which makes sense. The change of seasons always throws us off. Hopefully it will subside and there won’t be any more sicknesses this year.

Spicy

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

Jason always jokes that I’m a sassy Latina, and that my Mexican heritage is where my quick tongue comes from. I roll my eyes. He pretends not to like it, but I know he does. Anyway, that’s a stereotype. I’m sure there are plenty of Latinas out there that are quiet and keep to themselves. One way to find out is by visiting Latina Singles and searching for your own spicy mama to hook up with. I’m all about getting people matched (see my post a few days ago). So go out, find some hot Latin love. Or boring Latin love. You be the judge.

Losing Weight With Laundry

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

According to this website, laundry burns the most calories of all household duties. I believe it. I actually think I burn more at my house. I mean, does this chart take into consideration living with three boys, one of whom is still in diapers, and two dogs? I don’t think so. What’s going to happen when the baby comes? I’m going to need a service. It is crazy. I just finished 5 loads and the hamper is full again…after one night! I think I must burn at least double what the average person burns. So, cool. I don’t really have to go to the gym anymore.

Family Tree

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

Making a family tree has always been on my Crafty To-Do list. And now there are so many sites and resources that can help you out. For example, if you’re looking to find information on your great-grandmother’s spouse or who your great aunt was married to or something like that, you can find all sorts of pertinent info by searching for Public Marriage Records. You might even find something about a family member you never knew before. It’s one of those things, though, you have to be prepared for. After all, it might tell you something you don’t want to know.
