Three Cups Of Coffee Followed By Three Aspirin

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

Don’t you love those nights where you pretend you’re 22 again and that you have the stomach for sake followed by many beers? Yeah, those are good times. And the mornings are even better.

Psych!

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

We’re having our living room and dining room painted (finally). The painters were supposed to show up today, but plans are changing again and it turns out they are going to start next week. I guess it’s for the best since it’s pouring rain and I haven’t yet finished clearing the walls.

Yesterday I worked for a few hours cleaning up and getting the rooms emptied. Now I can hear my voice echo when I talk. It’s sort of bittersweet. It feels kind of like moving into a new place, and yet…we’re still here.

Could It Be?

What the.

What the.

I’m speechless. Wordless, too, it appears.

My freaking page rank is back? Please tell me Google has a heart after all and it isn’t some fluke. No, really. I can’t believe it!

Night And Day

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

You’d think that I had never seen Squid smile before. But that’s just how I reacted when one finally broke over his sweet face after days and days of sickness, throwing up, fever, coughing and all those other symptoms that nearly brought me to tears this weekend.

I’m so grateful, happy, ecstatic, overjoyed, thankful (add about a thousand other adjectives) to see him well again. Yeah, he still has a raspy throat and still coughs at night, but he’s sleeping better, up and playing, eating and drinking, and overall just being…normal!

And I can breathe again.

Thanks, Google

Surely you all know by now that I am a member of PPP. I started last year, wrote a blog about it and have talked about my involvement with PPP (now Izea) off and on for just under half a year.

I’ve enjoyed writing sponsored posts. Maybe that’s evil. After all, there seem to be a whole gang of bloggers out there (headed by their leader, Google) that believe I am the spawn of the Devil for associating myself with PPP.

I had no idea I was committing some mortal sin in writing the off-hand, quirky, random posts about bedroom furniture, paintball stores and colored dance tights! Wow, I should be ashamed!

Long story short, Google hammered my Page Rank to a ZERO last night. For members of PPP, this means they can no longer accept the paid opportunities that - for around 6 months now - have given me the chance to actually make some sort of income while taking care of my 22 month-old you all fondly know of as “Squid.”

Clearly, Google is attempting to monopolize the online advertising market. It is widely known that PPP is the most attractive alternative to AdSense, so why not screw those involved with PPP? Good for them, bad for the rest of us.

I’m not stunned, just incredibly frustrated. How they could sabotage an innocent blogger looking to make some money for her family is beyond me. Now, that’s evil.

The Longest Night, Ever

False alarm on Squid getting better. Fever agian. More coughing. And something new! Throw up!

Needless to say, long night.

He saw the doctor yesterday, but there is really nothing they can do for kids under 2, you know? No medicine, just Tylenol for the fever. Other than that, we’re just giving him as many liquids as he’ll take. It’s so miserable. I feel so bad for him.

Send along you good bloggy wishes, please. We need them!

Coughing Boy

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

Arg! I thought the family sickness thing was over, but Squid won’t stop coughing. It breaks my heart. So, I scheduled him an appointment for this afternoon. Looks like our Valentine’s Day plans are no longer. But, you know what? I don’t even care. All I want is for my boy to get better. Wish us luck!

Biking, Baby!

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

We finally got Squid out on our bikes this past weekend. It was beautiful. An awesome Sunday morning…sun shining, the perfect slight breeze, clear sky. We packed Littlest in his Schwinn trailer and headed out to Golden Gate Park.

It was so much fun! Plus, an extra workout for me since I pulled him on the back of my bike. Nice.

We even stopped to watch the swing dancers/roller bladers and let Squid out of his prison, er…trailer…to dance!

So cute!!!

Hopefully next Sunday will be as nice so we can do it all over again.
